On 6 June 2009 our first Erdoyo Hafle took place in the Syriac Orthodox parish hall of St Mary (Nindas Aloho) in Gütersloh – with around 450 Erdoye and their families from Germany, Belgium and Sweden.
The singers Robert Demir, Katrin Shamoun and Zeki Demir provided the music; Musa Dilmac and Jakob Dakin hosted the evening. A highlight was a poem by Musa Dilmac about our home village in Aramaic. The family chart, more than ten square metres in size – the groundwork for what is now available digitally in our members’ area – fascinated the younger generation in particular.
